Invisible joins are a fantastic way to join your rounds in a nice and tidy way. Don't get me wrong, I love when a pattern is written in spirals with no connections or joins because it is so simple but sometimes you need a more polished and seamless way to connect rows. When making a project like a Moses basket https://www.annieblustudio.com/post/bitiah-crochet-moses-basket-pattern, you want the joining stitch to be invisible so it looks flawless. I use two different types of invisible joins but there are numerous ways out there so just do what you enjoy.
These instructions are for the Advanced invisible join technique that I prefer;
I wanted to break down my invisible join techniques into two separate blog posts. This post will be for the Advanced invisible join technique that provides a way to join rounds without an unsightly slip stitch or crocheting in the round, which can create an uneven project that looks lopsided. It is truly invisible from both the front and back of a project..
Advanced invisible join
Step 1 ~ Do not complete the last st from the previous round. Leave the two loops on the hook from this stitch you did not complete. Drop working cord and pick up long tail you left at the beginning of the basket. (IMAGE 1-3)
Step 2 ~ Insert the hook into the first stitch on the last row from the back side (IMAGE 4 & 5)
Step 3 ~ Pull the long tail from the front through the stitch your hook is in. Pull through to the back (IMAGE 6,7 & 8)
Step 4 ~ Take your hook facing up and insert it through the back two bumps of the last stitch on the last round. Wiggle it through those two bumps. (IMAGE 9 & 10)
Step 5 ~ Grab the tail yarn and yarn over then pull it down through the two bumps you are currently in (IMAGE 11, 12 & 13)
Step 6 ~ Drop the tail yarn and tidy up the stitches by tightening and neatening them up (IMAGE 14)
Step 7 ~ Insert your hook through the front of the WS that you have been working in. It is the stitch that the tail cord is coming out of. (IMAGE15)
Step 8 ~ Yarn over and pull through the working cord (not the tail cord) (IMAGE 16)
Step 9 ~ Ch 1. This makes the advanced inv stitch.

Once you have completed all of the rounds in your pattern, simply cut and weave in your ends.
